Chao Gongs

We have large and small Chao Gongs from 10 inches in diameter to 52 inches in diameter. These gongs come directly from highest quality fair trade manufacturers in China. Each of our gongs are carefully played and listened to before being selected for our store.

These gongs are are the most familiar Chinese gong to western musicians, also know amongst orchestral performers as a tam-tam. The Chao Gong is made from copper based bronze (technically identified as B-20 metal) with the central area of the gong polished and the rest left with the black copper oxide coating that appears during the manufacturing process. In addition to their orchestral uses, these gongs are used in sound therapy and meditation. They are visually arresting as a home or garden centre-piece.
