Pellet Drum
Used in East Asia both for ceremonial purposes (in Mongolia) and as children's toys in many other places, these small percussion instruments are either made entirely of wood, or of a wooden frame with animal skin stretched over it. The drum is played by rolling the stick between the palms or rotating it between the fingers, which causes the two strings to hit the sides and produce a sharp, bright, percussive sound.
