pi-tambourines-lrgThe tambourine is at once an ancient instrument and one of the most common and best known instruments in the world today. It has been used in a wide range of music genre over the centuries. The tambourine consists of a wood or plastic frame with pairs of small metal discs, known as 'zils', mounted into it. Classically the term tambourine denotes an instrument with a drumhead although some models are headless. Right from a young age children love to shake the tambourine and it is also a great instrument for helping to maintain the rhythm in music groups.
